Migrating Forms

Formerly known as The New York Underground Film Festival, Migrating Forms is an experimental film and video festival. The 2009 festival launched the new name with a new identity. The new identity avoids the cliche’s of many film and video festivals (distressed type, an amateur look and feel) in favor of a bold, confident and colorful approach.

Budget was kept in mind throughout the project. Not surprising, but this experimental film and video festival is not flush with cash for the printing and production of promotional materials. With exception of the yearly festival program all materials are printed one-color (black) on colored paper. Paper colors can be switched out but consistent use of type, the logo and a grid hold it all together. Postcards can be punched with holes, echoing the “migrating forms” of the logo.
